Apache Commons FileUpload before 1.5 does not limit the number of request parts to be processed resulting in the possibility of an attacker triggering a DoS with a malicious upload or series of uploads. Note that, like all of the file upload limits, the new configuration option (FileUploadBase#setFileCountMax) is not enabled by default and must be explicitly configured. A flaw was found in Apache Commons FileUpload, where it does not limit the number of parts being processed in a request. This issue may allow an attacker to use a malicious upload or series of uploads to trigger a denial of service. While Red Hat Satellite relies upon Apache Tomcat, it does not directly ship it. Tomcat is shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and consumed by the Candlepin component of Satellite. Red Hat Satellite users are therefore advised to check the impact state of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, since any necessary fixes will be distributed through the platform. • https://github.com/nice1st/CVE-2023-24998 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/05/22/1 https://lists.apache.org/thread/4xl4l09mhwg4vgsk7dxqogcjrobrrdoy https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/10/msg00020.html https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202305-37 https://www.debian.org/security/2023/dsa-5522 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-24998 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2172298 • CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling •

Apache Commons FileUpload before 1.3.3 DiskFileItem File Manipulation Remote Code Execution Apache Commons FileUpload versión anterior a 1.3.3, la manipulación del archivo DiskFileItem conduce a la ejecución de código remota. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Novell NetIQ Sentinel. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the insufficient blacklisting of certain Java objects. The issue lies in the failure to properly validate user-supplied data which can result in deserialization of untrusted data. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code under the context of the current process. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-05/msg00036.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuoct2018-4428296.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/93604 http://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-16-570 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FILEUPLOAD-279 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WW-4812 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/708d94141126eac03011144a971a6411fcac16d9c248d1d535a39451%40%3Csolr-user.lucene.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/d6665 • CWE-284: Improper Access Control •

The MultipartStream class in Apache Commons Fileupload before 1.3.2, as used in Apache Tomcat 7.x before 7.0.70, 8.x before 8.0.36, 8.5.x before 8.5.3, and 9.x before 9.0.0.M7 and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via a long boundary string. A denial of service vulnerability was identified in Commons FileUpload that occurred when the length of the multipart boundary was just below the size of the buffer (4096 bytes) used to read the uploaded file if the boundary was the typical tens of bytes long. • http://jvn.jp/en/jp/JVN89379547/index.html http://jvndb.jvn.jp/jvndb/JVNDB-2016-000121 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-updates/2016-09/msg00025.html http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/commons-dev/201606.mbox/%3CCAF8HOZ%2BPq2QH8RnxBuJyoK1dOz6jrTiQypAC%2BH8g6oZkBg%2BCxg%40mail.gmail.com%3E http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2068.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2069.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2070.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016 • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation •

MultipartStream.java in Apache Commons FileUpload before 1.3.1, as used in Apache Tomcat, JBoss Web, and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop and CPU consumption) via a crafted Content-Type header that bypasses a loop's intended exit conditions. A denial of service flaw was found in the way Apache Commons FileUpload, which is embedded in Tomcat and JBoss Web, handled small-sized buffers used by MultipartStream. A remote attacker could use this flaw to create a malformed Content-Type header for a multipart request, causing Tomcat to enter an infinite loop when processing such an incoming request. • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/31615 http://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2014-0110.html http://blog.spiderlabs.com/2014/02/cve-2014-0050-exploit-with-boundaries-loops-without-boundaries.html http://jvn.jp/en/jp/JVN14876762/index.html http://jvndb.jvn.jp/jvndb/JVNDB-2014-000017 http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/commons-dev/201402.mbox/%3C52F373FC.9030907%40apache.org%3E http://marc.info/?l=bugtraq&m=143136844732487&w=2 http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/127215/VMware& • CWE-264: Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls •

The default configuration of javax.servlet.context.tempdir in Apache Commons FileUpload 1.0 through 1.2.2 uses the /tmp directory for uploaded files, which allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via an unspecified symlink attack. • http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/bugtraq/2013-03/0035.html http://marc.info/?l=bugtraq&m=144050155601375&w=2 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuoct2017-3236626.html http://www.osvdb.org/90906 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/58326 https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202107-39 • CWE-264: Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls •
