OpenAFS before 1.6.24 and 1.8.x before 1.8.5 is prone to an information disclosure vulnerability because uninitialized scalars are sent over the network to a peer. • https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/11/msg00002.html https://openafs.org/pages/security/OPENAFS-SA-2019-002.txt • CWE-908: Use of Uninitialized Resource •

OpenAFS before 1.6.24 and 1.8.x before 1.8.5 is prone to information leakage upon certain error conditions because uninitialized RPC output variables are sent over the network to a peer. • https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/11/msg00002.html https://openafs.org/pages/security/OPENAFS-SA-2019-001.txt • CWE-908: Use of Uninitialized Resource •

OpenAFS before 1.6.24 and 1.8.x before 1.8.5 is prone to denial of service from unserialized data access because remote attackers can make a series of VOTE_Debug RPC calls to crash a database server within the SVOTE_Debug RPC handler. • https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/11/msg00002.html https://openafs.org/pages/security/OPENAFS-SA-2019-003.txt • CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data •

An issue was discovered in OpenAFS before 1.6.23 and 1.8.x before 1.8.2. Several RPC server routines did not fully initialize their output variables before returning, leaking memory contents from both the stack and the heap. Because the OpenAFS cache manager functions as an Rx server for the AFSCB service, clients are also susceptible to information leakage. For example, RXAFSCB_TellMeAboutYourself leaks kernel memory and KAM_ListEntry leaks kaserver memory. • http://openafs.org/pages/security/OPENAFS-SA-2018-002.txt https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2018/09/msg00024.html https://www.debian.org/security/2018/dsa-4302 • CWE-200: Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor •

An issue was discovered in OpenAFS before 1.6.23 and 1.8.x before 1.8.2. The backup tape controller (butc) process accepts incoming RPCs but does not require (or allow for) authentication of those RPCs. Handling those RPCs results in operations being performed with administrator credentials, including dumping/restoring volume contents and manipulating the backup database. For example, an unauthenticated attacker can replace any volume's content with arbitrary data. • http://openafs.org/pages/security/OPENAFS-SA-2018-001.txt https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2018/09/msg00024.html https://www.debian.org/security/2018/dsa-4302 • CWE-287: Improper Authentication •
