Postfix through 3.8.5 allows SMTP smuggling unless configured with smtpd_data_restrictions=reject_unauth_pipelining and smtpd_discard_ehlo_keywords=chunking (or certain other options that exist in recent versions). Remote attackers can use a published exploitation technique to inject e-mail messages with a spoofed MAIL FROM address, allowing bypass of an SPF protection mechanism. This occurs because Postfix supports <LF>.<CR><LF> but some other popular e-mail servers do not. To prevent attack variants (by always disallowing <LF> without <CR>), a different solution is required, such as the smtpd_forbid_bare_newline=yes option with a Postfix minimum version of 3.5.23, 3.6.13, 3.7.9, 3.8.4, or 3.9. • https://github.com/duy-31/CVE-2023-51764 https://github.com/eeenvik1/CVE-2023-51764 https://github.com/Double-q1015/CVE-2023-51764 https://github.com/d4op/CVE-2023-51764-POC http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/12/24/1 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/12/25/1 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2024/05/09/3 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-51764 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2255563 http • CWE-345: Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity •

Postfix 1.1.11 and earlier allows remote attackers to use Postfix to conduct "bounce scans" or DDos attacks of other hosts via an email address to the local host containing the target IP address and service name followed by a "!" string, which causes Postfix to attempt to use SMTP to communicate with the target on the associated port. • http://distro.conectiva.com.br/atualizacoes/?id=a&anuncio=000717 http://marc.info/?l=bugtraq&m=106001525130257&w=2 http://secunia.com/advisories/9433 http://www.debian.org/security/2003/dsa-363 http://www.mandriva.com/security/advisories?name=MDKSA-2003:081 http://www.novell.com/linux/security/advisories/2003_033_postfix.html http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/RHSA-2003-251.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/8333 https://oval.cisecurity.org/repository/search/definition&# •

The address parser code in Postfix 1.1.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (lock) via (1) a malformed envelope address to a local host that would generate a bounce and contains the ".!" string in the MAIL FROM or Errors-To headers, which causes nqmgr to lock up, or (2) via a valid MAIL FROM with a RCPT TO containing a ".!" string, which causes an instance of the SMTP listener to lock up. • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/22981 https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/22982 http://distro.conectiva.com.br/atualizacoes/?id=a&anuncio=000717 http://lists.grok.org.uk/pipermail/full-disclosure/2003-August/007693.html http://marc.info/?l=bugtraq&m=106001525130257&w=2 http://marc.info/?l=bugtraq&m=106029188614704&w=2 http://secunia.com/advisories/9433 http://www.debian.org/security/2003/dsa-363 http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/895508 http://www.linuxsec •
