CVE-2023-46250 – pypdf possible Infinite Loop when PdfWriter(clone_from) is used with a PDF
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-46250
pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. An attacker who uses a vulnerability present in versions 3.7.0 through 3.16.4 can craft a PDF which leads to an infinite loop. This infinite loop blocks the current process and can utilize a single core of the CPU by 100%. It does not affect memory usage. That is, for example, the case when the pypdf-user manipulates an incoming malicious PDF e.g. by merging it with another PDF or by adding annotations. • https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/commit/9b23ac3c9619492570011d551d521690de9a3e2d https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/2264 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/security/advisories/GHSA-wjcc-cq79-p63f • CWE-835: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') •
CVE-2023-36810 – Quadratic runtime with malformed PDF missing xref marker in pypdf
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-36810
pypdf is a pure-python PDF library capable of splitting, merging, cropping, and transforming the pages of PDF files. An attacker who uses this vulnerability can craft a PDF which leads to unexpected long runtime. This quadratic runtime blocks the current process and can utilize a single core of the CPU by 100%. It does not affect memory usage. This issue has been addressed in PR 808 and versions from 1.27.9 include this fix. • https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/issues/582 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/808 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/security/advisories/GHSA-jrm6-h9cq-8gqw https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/07/msg00019.html • CWE-407: Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity •
CVE-2023-36807 – Infinite Loop when reading malformed objects in pypdf
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-36807
pypdf is a pure-python PDF library capable of splitting, merging, cropping, and transforming the pages of PDF files. In version 2.10.5 an attacker who uses this vulnerability can craft a PDF which leads to an infinite loop. This infinite loop blocks the current process and can utilize a single core of the CPU by 100%. It does not affect memory usage. That is, for example, the case if the user extracted metadata from such a malformed PDF. • https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/issues/1329 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/1331 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/security/advisories/GHSA-hm9v-vj3r-r55m • CWE-835: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') •
CVE-2023-36464 – Infinite Loop when a comment isn't followed by a character in pypdf
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-36464
pypdf is an open source, pure-python PDF library. In affected versions an attacker may craft a PDF which leads to an infinite loop if `__parse_content_stream` is executed. That is, for example, the case if the user extracted text from such a PDF. This issue was introduced in pull request #969 and resolved in pull request #1828. Users are advised to upgrade. • https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/1828 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/969 https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/security/advisories/GHSA-4vvm-4w3v-6mr8 • CWE-835: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') •
