An issue was discovered in the DBI module through 1.643 for Perl. DBD::File drivers can open files from folders other than those specifically passed via the f_dir attribute in the data source name (DSN). NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2014-10401.

It was discovered that the Perl DBI module incorrectly opened files outside of the folder specified in the data source name. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to obtain sensitive information. It was discovered that the Perl DBI module incorrectly handled certain long strings. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to cause the DBI module to crash, resulting in a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Various other issues were also addressed.
