Descriptions

On Windows systems, the logger run by the Windows updater deletes the file "update.log" before it runs in order to write a new log of that name. The path to this file is supplied at the command line to the updater and could be used in concert with another local exploit to delete a different file named "update.log" instead of the one intended. Note: This attack only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are not affected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 55.

En sistemas Windows, el logger ejecutado por Windows Updater elimina el archivo "update.log" antes de ejecutarlo para escribir un nuevo registro con ese nombre. La ruta a este archivo se proporciona en la línea de comandos al Updater y podría emplearse junto con otro exploit local para eliminar un archivo diferente llamado "update.log" en lugar del que se pretende. Nota: este ataque solo afecta a sistemas operativos Windows. Otros sistemas operativos no se han visto afectados. La vulnerabilidad afecta a Firefox en versiones anteriores a la 55.
