This vulnerability allows local attackers to disclose sensitive information on vulnerable installations of Apple macOS. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the handling of the getPixelInformationFromTiming method. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before reading from memory. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to escalate privileges in the context of the kernel.
macOS Mojave 10.14.2, Security Update 2018-003 High Sierra, Security Update 2018-006 Sierra are now available and addresses denial of service vulnerabilities.
