Descriptions
An issue was discovered in Electronic Arts Origin before 10.5.39. Due to improper sanitization of the origin:// and origin2:// URI schemes, it is possible to inject additional arguments into the Origin process and ultimately leverage code execution by loading a backdoored Qt plugin remotely via the platformpluginpath argument supplied with a Windows network share.
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Electronic Arts Origin. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious web page.
There is an issue with the way the product handles URIs within certain schemes. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user at medium integrity.
EA Origin versions prior to 10.5.38 suffer from a remote code execution vulnerability.
