An out-of-bounds read was addressed with improved input validation. This issue is fixed in iOS 12.4, macOS Mojave 10.14.6, tvOS 12.4, watchOS 5.3. Parsing a maliciously crafted office document may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Apple macOS. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the parseText1Fast function. Crafted data in a DOC file can trigger a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute code in the context of the current process.

macOS Mojave 10.14.6, Security Update 2019-004 High Sierra, Security Update 2019-004 Sierra are now available and address bypass, code execution, and use-after-free vulnerabilities.
