A divide by zero flaw was found in libvncserver. This flaw allows a malicious client to send a specially crafted message that, when processed by the VNC server, leads to a floating-point exception, resulting in a denial of service. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.

It was discovered that LibVNCServer incorrectly handled certain internals. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Vino package ships with a LibVNCServer source and all listed releases were affected for this package.
