Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Group Replication Plugin). Supported versions that are affected are 5.7.37 and prior and 8.0.28 and prior. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. USN-5400-1 fixed several vulnerabilities in MySQL. This update provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 16.04 ESM. Multiple security issues were discovered in MySQL and this update includes new upstream MySQL versions to fix these issues. MySQL has been updated in Ubuntu 16.04 ESM to MySQL 5.7.38.
