Descriptions
A vulnerability within the Avira network protection feature allowed an attacker with local execution rights to cause an overflow. This could corrupt the data on the heap and lead to a denial-of-service situation.
Issue was fixed with Endpointprotection.exe version 1.0.2303.633
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Avira Free Antivirus. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the netprotection network filter driver. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before writing to memory. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of SYSTEM.
