Descriptions
Heap-based Buffer Overflow and Uninitialized Variable vulnerabilities exist in the X_B and SAT file reading procedure in eDrawings from Release SOLIDWORKS 2024 through Release SOLIDWORKS 2025. These vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code while opening a specially crafted X_B or SAT file.
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Dassault Systmes eDrawings Viewer. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the parsing of X_B files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process.
