A memory initialization issue was addressed with improved memory handling. This issue is fixed in macOS Sonoma 14.7, macOS Sequoia 15. Processing a maliciously crafted file may lead to unexpected app termination.
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Apple macOS. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the processing of MOV files in the VTDecoderXPCService process. The issue results from the lack of proper initialization of memory prior to accessing it. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user.
