A vulnerability exists in the Rockwell Automation ThinManager® ThinServer that allows a threat actor to disclose sensitive information. A threat actor can exploit this vulnerability by abusing the ThinServer™ service to read arbitrary files by creating a junction that points to the target directory.
This vulnerability allows local attackers to read arbitrary files on affected installations of Rockwell Automation ThinManager. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within the ThinServer service which listens on TCP port 8443 by default. The issue results from the lack of proper access controls set on resources used by the service. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to read files in the context of the SYSTEM.
