CVE-2023-48707 – Cleartext Storage of Sensitive Information in codeigniter4/shield
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-48707
CodeIgniter Shield is an authentication and authorization provider for CodeIgniter 4. The `secretKey` value is an important key for HMAC SHA256 authentication and in affected versions was stored in the database in cleartext form. If a malicious person somehow had access to the data in the database, they could use the key and secretKey for HMAC SHA256 authentication to send requests impersonating that corresponding user. This issue has been addressed in version 1.0.0-beta.8. Users are advised to upgrade. • https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/commit/f77c6ae20275ac1245330a2b9a523bf7e6f6202f https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/security/advisories/GHSA-v427-c49j-8w6x • CWE-312: Cleartext Storage of Sensitive Information •
CVE-2023-48708 – Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log in codeigniter4/shield
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-48708
CodeIgniter Shield is an authentication and authorization provider for CodeIgniter 4. In affected versions successful login attempts are recorded with the raw tokens stored in the log table. If a malicious person somehow views the data in the log table they can obtain a raw token which can then be used to send a request with that user's authority. This issue has been addressed in version 1.0.0-beta.8. Users are advised to upgrade. • https://codeigniter4.github.io/shield/getting_started/authenticators https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/commit/7e84c3fb3411294f70890819bfe51781bb9dc8e4 https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/security/advisories/GHSA-j72f-h752-mx4w • CWE-532: Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File •
CVE-2023-27580 – CodeIgniter Shield Password Shucking Vulnerability
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-27580
CodeIgniter Shield provides authentication and authorization for the CodeIgniter 4 PHP framework. An improper implementation was found in the password storage process. All hashed passwords stored in Shield v1.0.0-beta.3 or earlier are easier to crack than expected due to the vulnerability. Therefore, they should be removed as soon as possible. If an attacker gets (1) the user's hashed password by Shield, and (2) the hashed password (SHA-384 hash without salt) from somewhere, the attacker may easily crack the user's password. • https://blog.ircmaxell.com/2015/03/security-issue-combining-bcrypt-with.html https://cheatsheetseries.owasp.org/cheatsheets/Password_Storage_Cheat_Sheet.html#pre-hashing-passwords https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/blob/develop/UPGRADING.md https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/commit/ea9688dd01d100193d834117dbfc2cfabcf9ea0b https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/security/advisories/GHSA-c5vj-f36q-p9vg https://www.scottbrady91.com/authentication/beware-of-password-shucking • CWE-916: Use of Password Hash With Insufficient Computational Effort •
CVE-2022-35943 – SameSite may allow cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection to be bypassed
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2022-35943
Shield is an authentication and authorization framework for CodeIgniter 4. This vulnerability may allow [SameSite Attackers](https://canitakeyoursubdomain.name/) to bypass the [CodeIgniter4 CSRF protection](https://codeigniter4.github.io/userguide/libraries/security.html) mechanism with CodeIgniter Shield. For this attack to succeed, the attacker must have direct (or indirect, e.g., XSS) control over a subdomain site (e.g., `https://a.example.com/`) of the target site (e.g., `http://example.com/`). Upgrade to **CodeIgniter v4.2.3 or later** and **Shield v1.0.0-beta.2 or later**. As a workaround: set `Config\Security::$csrfProtection` to `'session,'`remove old session data right after login (immediately after ID and password match) and regenerate CSRF token right after login (immediately after ID and password match) Shield es un marco de autenticación y autorización para CodeIgniter 4. • https://codeigniter4.github.io/userguide/libraries/security.htm https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Set-Cookie/SameSite https://github.com/codeigniter4/shield/security/advisories/GHSA-5hm8-vh6r-2cjq https://jub0bs.com/posts/2021-01-29-great-samesite-confusion • CWE-352: Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) •
