Apache Commons BCEL has a number of APIs that would normally only allow changing specific class characteristics. However, due to an out-of-bounds writing issue, these APIs can be used to produce arbitrary bytecode. This could be abused in applications that pass attacker-controllable data to those APIs, giving the attacker more control over the resulting bytecode than otherwise expected. Update to Apache Commons BCEL 6.6.0. • http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2022/11/07/2 https://lists.apache.org/thread/lfxk7q8qmnh5bt9jm6nmjlv5hsxjhrz4 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/LX3HEB4TV2BVCGDTK5BCLSYOZNQTOBN4 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/QAMRHAKGIKZNHRBB4VLYTOIOIMMXCUCD https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/QMVX6COVXZVS5GPWDODIRW6Z2GE7RPAQ https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202401-25 https: • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •

Apache XmlGraphics Commons 2.4 and earlier is vulnerable to server-side request forgery, caused by improper input validation by the XMPParser. By using a specially-crafted argument, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the underlying server to make arbitrary GET requests. Users should upgrade to 2.6 or later. • https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r2877ae10e8be56a3c52d03e373512ddd32f16b863f24c2e22f5a5ba2%40%3Cdev.poi.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r588d05a0790b40a0eb81088252e1e8c1efb99706631421f17038eb05%40%3Cdev.poi.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/ra8f4d6ae402ec020ee3e8c28632c91be131c4d8b4c9c6756a179b12b%40%3Cdev.jmeter.apache.org%3E https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/22HESSYU7T4D6GGENUVEX3X3H6FGBECH https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org& • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation CWE-918: Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) •

The file name encoding algorithm used internally in Apache Commons Compress 1.15 to 1.18 can get into an infinite loop when faced with specially crafted inputs. This can lead to a denial of service attack if an attacker can choose the file names inside of an archive created by Compress. A resource consumption vulnerability was discovered in apache-commons-compress in the way NioZipEncoding encodes filenames. • https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/308cc15f1f1dc53e97046fddbac240e6cd16de89a2746cf257be7f5b%40%3Cdev.commons.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/54cc4e9fa6b24520135f6fa4724dfb3465bc14703c7dc7e52353a0ea%40%3Ccommits.creadur.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/9317fd092b257a0815434b116a8af8daea6e920b6673f4fd5583d5fe%40%3Ccommits.druid.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r05cf37c1e1e662e968cfece1102fcd50fe207181fdbf2c30aadfafd3%40%3Cissues.flink.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r204ba2a9ea750f38d789d2bb429cc0925ad6133deea7cbc3001d96b5%4 • CWE-835: Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition ('Infinite Loop') •

In Apache Commons Beanutils 1.9.2, a special BeanIntrospector class was added which allows suppressing the ability for an attacker to access the classloader via the class property available on all Java objects. We, however were not using this by default characteristic of the PropertyUtilsBean. A flaw was found in the Apache Commons BeanUtils, where the class property in PropertyUtilsBean is not suppressed by default. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-09/msg00007.html http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/www-announce/201908.mbox/%3cC628798F-315D-4428-8CB1-4ED1ECC958E4%40apache.org%3e https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:4317 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0057 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0194 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0804 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0805 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0806 • CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data •

Fedora Commons before 2.2.1 does not properly handle certain authentication requests involving Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI), related to (1) a nonexistent account name in combination with an empty password, which allows remote attackers to trigger a certain "unexpected / strange response" from an LDAP server, and (2) a reauthentication attempt that throws an exception, which allows remote attackers to trigger use of a cached authentication decision. NOTE: authentication can be bypassed by using vector 1 followed by vector 2, and possibly can be bypassed by using a single vector. • http://osvdb.org/39548 http://secunia.com/advisories/26445 http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=531870 http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1731608&group_id=177054&atid=879703 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/25317 https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/36005 • CWE-287: Improper Authentication •
