Issue summary: A bug has been identified in the processing of key and initialisation vector (IV) lengths. This can lead to potential truncation or overruns during the initialisation of some symmetric ciphers. Impact summary: A truncation in the IV can result in non-uniqueness, which could result in loss of confidentiality for some cipher modes. When calling EVP_EncryptInit_ex2(), EVP_DecryptInit_ex2() or EVP_CipherInit_ex2() the provided OSSL_PARAM array is processed after the key and IV have been established. Any alterations to the key length, via the "keylen" parameter or the IV length, via the "ivlen" parameter, within the OSSL_PARAM array will not take effect as intended, potentially causing truncation or overreading of these values. The following ciphers and cipher modes are impacted: RC2, RC4, RC5, CCM, GCM and OCB. For the CCM, GCM and OCB cipher modes, truncation of the IV can result in loss of confidentiality. For example, when following NIST's SP 800-38D section 8.2.1 guidance for constructing a deterministic IV for AES in GCM mode, truncation of the counter portion could lead to IV reuse. Both truncations and overruns of the key and overruns of the IV will produce incorrect results and could, in some cases, trigger a memory exception. • http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/10/24/1 https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git;a=commitdiff;h=0df40630850fb2740e6be6890bb905d3fc623b2d https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git;a=commitdiff;h=5f69f5c65e483928c4b28ed16af6e5742929f1ee https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20231027-0010 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20240201-0003 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20240201-0004 https://www.debian.org/security/2023/dsa-5532 https://www.openssl.org/news/ • CWE-325: Missing Cryptographic Step CWE-684: Incorrect Provision of Specified Functionality •

extract_user_to_sg in lib/scatterlist.c in the Linux kernel before 6.4.12 fails to unpin pages in a certain situation, as demonstrated by a WARNING for try_grab_page. extract_user_to_sg en lib/scatterlist.c en el kernel de Linux anterior a 6.4.12 no logra desanclar páginas en una situación determinada, como lo demuestra una ADVERTENCIA para try_grab_page. • https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v6.x/ChangeLog-6.4.12 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=f443fd5af5dbd531f880d3645d5dd36976cf087f https://lkml.org/lkml/2023/8/3/323 https://lore.kernel.org/linux-crypto/20571.1690369076%40warthog.procyon.org.uk https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20231110-0009 •

A flaw in the networking code handling DNS-over-TLS queries may cause `named` to terminate unexpectedly due to an assertion failure. This happens when internal data structures are incorrectly reused under significant DNS-over-TLS query load. This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.18.0 through 9.18.18 and 9.18.11-S1 through 9.18.18-S1. • http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/09/20/2 https://kb.isc.org/docs/cve-2023-4236 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/IPJLLTJCSDJJII7IIZPLTBQNWP7MZH7F https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/U35OARLQCPMVCBBPHWBXY5M6XJLD2TZ5 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/VSK5V4W4OHPM3JTJGWAQD6CZW7SFD75B https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20231013-0004 https:/& • CWE-617: Reachable Assertion •

A flaw was found in glibc. When the getaddrinfo function is called with the AF_UNSPEC address family and the system is configured with no-aaaa mode via /etc/resolv.conf, a DNS response via TCP larger than 2048 bytes can potentially disclose stack contents through the function returned address data, and may cause a crash. • http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/09/25/1 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:5453 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:5455 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-4527 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2234712 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/4DBUQRRPB47TC3NJOUIBVWUGFHBJAFDL https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/DFG4P76UHHZEWQ26FWBXG76N2QLKKPZA https: • CWE-121: Stack-based Buffer Overflow CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read •

A flaw was found in glibc. In an uncommon situation, the gaih_inet function may use memory that has been freed, resulting in an application crash. This issue is only exploitable when the getaddrinfo function is called and the hosts database in /etc/nsswitch.conf is configured with SUCCESS=continue or SUCCESS=merge. Se encontró una falla en glibc. En una situación poco común, la función gaih_inet puede utilizar memoria que se ha liberado, lo que provoca un bloqueo de la aplicación. • http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/10/03/8 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:5453 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:5455 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2023:7409 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-4813 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2237798 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20231110-0003 • CWE-416: Use After Free •
