CVE-2020-26217 – Remote Code Execution in XStream
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2020-26217
XStream before version 1.4.14 is vulnerable to Remote Code Execution. The vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands only by manipulating the processed input stream. Only users who rely on blocklists are affected. Anyone using XStream's Security Framework allowlist is not affected. The linked advisory provides code workarounds for users who cannot upgrade. The issue is fixed in version 1.4.14. • https://github.com/Al1ex/CVE-2020-26217 https://github.com/novysodope/CVE-2020-26217-XStream-RCE-POC https://github.com/x-stream/xstream/commit/0fec095d534126931c99fd38e9c6d41f5c685c1a https://github.com/x-stream/xstream/security/advisories/GHSA-mw36-7c6c-q4q2 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r2de526726e7f4db4a7cb91b7355070779f51a84fd985c6529c2f4e9e%40%3Cissues.activemq.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r7c9fc255edc0b9cd9567093d131f6d33fde4c662aaf912460ef630e9%40%3Ccommits.camel.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/ • CWE-78: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection') CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data •
CVE-2020-11979 – ant: insecure temporary file
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2020-11979
As mitigation for CVE-2020-1945 Apache Ant 1.10.8 changed the permissions of temporary files it created so that only the current user was allowed to access them. Unfortunately the fixcrlf task deleted the temporary file and created a new one without said protection, effectively nullifying the effort. This would still allow an attacker to inject modified source files into the build process. • https://github.com/gradle/gradle/security/advisories/GHSA-j45w-qrgf-25vm https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r107ea1b1a7a214bc72fe1a04207546ccef542146ae22952e1013b5cc%40%3Cdev.creadur.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r1dc8518dc99c42ecca5ff82d0d2de64cd5d3a4fa691eb9ee0304781e%40%3Cdev.creadur.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r2306b67f20c24942b872b0a41fbdc9330e8467388158bcd19c1094e0%40%3Cdev.creadur.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r4ca33fad3fb39d130cda287d5a60727d9e706e6f2cf2339b95729490%40%3Cdev.creadur.apache.org%3E https • CWE-377: Insecure Temporary File CWE-379: Creation of Temporary File in Directory with Insecure Permissions •
CVE-2019-10173 – xstream: remote code execution due to insecure XML deserialization (regression of CVE-2013-7285)
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2019-10173
It was found that xstream API version 1.4.10 before 1.4.11 introduced a regression for a previous deserialization flaw. If the security framework has not been initialized, it may allow a remote attacker to run arbitrary shell commands when unmarshalling XML or any supported format. e.g. JSON. • http://x-stream.github.io/changes.html#1.4.11 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3892 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:4352 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0445 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0727 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-10173 https://www.oracle.com//security-alerts/cpujul2021.html https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cpuApr2021.html https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cpuapr2020.html https:/ • CWE-94: Improper Control of Generation of Code ('Code Injection') CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data •
