A CWE-94: Improper Control of Generation of Code ('Code Injection') vulnerability exists that could cause execution of malicious code when an unsuspicious user loads a project file from the local filesystem into the HMI. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The specific flaw exists within the processing of of VXDZ files while in simulation mode. When parsing name:value pairs in configuation data, the process does not properly validate a user-supplied string before executing it as code.
