CVE-2024-29039 – Missing check in tpm2_checkquote allows attackers to misrepresent the TPM state
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2024-29039
tpm2 is the source repository for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM2.0) tools. This vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate tpm2_checkquote outputs by altering the TPML_PCR_SELECTION in the PCR input file. As a result, digest values are incorrectly mapped to PCR slots and banks, providing a misleading picture of the TPM state. • https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tools/releases/tag/5.7 https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tools/security/advisories/GHSA-8rjm-5f5f-h4q6 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2024-29039 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2278075 • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation CWE-807: Reliance on Untrusted Inputs in a Security Decision •
CVE-2024-29038 – tpm2 does not detect if quote was not generated by TPM
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2024-29038
tpm2-tools is the source repository for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM2.0) tools. A malicious attacker can generate arbitrary quote data which is not detected by `tpm2 checkquote`. • https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tools/releases/tag/5.7 https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tools/security/advisories/GHSA-5495-c38w-gr6f https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2024-29038 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2278071 • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation CWE-1283: Mutable Attestation or Measurement Reporting Data CWE-1390: Weak Authentication •
CVE-2024-29040 – Fapi Verify Quote: Does not detect if quote was not generated by TPM
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2024-29040
This repository hosts source code implementing the Trusted Computing Group's (TCG) TPM2 Software Stack (TSS). The JSON Quote Info returned by Fapi_Quote has to be deserialized by Fapi_VerifyQuote to the TPM Structure `TPMS_ATTEST`. For the field `TPM2_GENERATED magic` of this structure any number can be used in the JSON structure. The verifier can receive a state which does not represent the actual, possibly malicious state of the device under test. The malicious device might get access to data it shouldn't, or can use services it shouldn't be able to. • https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tss/releases/tag/4.1.0 https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tss/security/advisories/GHSA-837m-jw3m-h9p6 • CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data •
CVE-2023-22745 – Buffer Overlow in TSS2_RC_Decode in tpm2-tss
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2023-22745
tpm2-tss is an open source software implementation of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2 Software Stack (TSS2). In affected versions `Tss2_RC_SetHandler` and `Tss2_RC_Decode` both index into `layer_handler` with an 8 bit layer number, but the array only has `TPM2_ERROR_TSS2_RC_LAYER_COUNT` entries, so trying to add a handler for higher-numbered layers or decode a response code with such a layer number reads/writes past the end of the buffer. This Buffer overrun, could result in arbitrary code execution. An example attack would be a MiTM bus attack that returns 0xFFFFFFFF for the RC. Given the common use case of TPM modules an attacker must have local access to the target machine with local system privileges which allows access to the TPM system. • https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tss/commit/306490c8d848c367faa2d9df81f5e69dab46ffb5 https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tss/security/advisories/GHSA-4j3v-fh23-vx67 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2023-22745 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2162610 • CWE-120: Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input ('Classic Buffer Overflow') •
CVE-2020-24455
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2020-24455
Missing initialization of a variable in the TPM2 source may allow a privileged user to potentially enable an escalation of privilege via local access. This affects tpm2-tss before 3.0.1 and before 2.4.3. Una falta de inicialización de una variable en la fuente de TPM2 puede permitir a un usuario privilegiado habilitar potencialmente una escalada de privilegios por medio del acceso local. Esto afecta a tpm2-tss versiones anteriores a 3.0.1 y versiones anteriores a 2.4.3 • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1902167 https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tss/releases/tag/2.4.3 https://github.com/tpm2-software/tpm2-tss/releases/tag/3.0.1 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/7KPOENCMJU4DMT3BDNUBRK25B3DJ47UO https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202107-10 • CWE-909: Missing Initialization of Resource •
