Veritas NetBackUp OpsCenter Version 9.1.0.1 is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-site scripting (XSS). The Web App fails to adequately sanitize special characters. By leveraging this issue, an attacker is able to cause arbitrary HTML and JavaScript code to be executed in a user's browser. • https://github.com/IthacaLabs/Veritas-Technologies https://github.com/IthacaLabs/Veritas-Technologies/blob/main/Veritas%20NetBackUp%20OpsCenter%20Version%209.1.0.1/Reflected%20XSS/XSS.txt https://github.com/IthacaLabs/Veritas-Technologies/blob/main/Veritas%20NetBackUp%20OpsCenter%20Version%209.1.0.1/Reflected%20XSS/XSS_CVE-2023-26789.txt • CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting') •

An issue was discovered in Veritas NetBackup and OpsCenter through 8.3.0.1. NetBackup processes using Strawberry Perl attempt to load and execute libraries from paths that do not exist by default on the Windows operating system. By default, on Windows systems, users can create directories under C:\. If a low privileged user on the Windows system creates an affected path with a library that NetBackup attempts to load, they can execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM or Administrator. This gives the attacker administrator access on the system, allowing the attacker (by default) to access all data, access all installed applications, etc. • https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/security/VTS20-016#Issue2 •

By default, on Windows systems, users can create directories under the top level of any drive. If a low privileged user creates an affected path with a library that the Veritas product attempts to load, they can execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM or Administrator.
