An issue was discovered in Samsung Mobile Chipset and Baseband Modem Chipset for Exynos 850, Exynos 980, Exynos 1080, Exynos 1280, Exynos 2200, Exynos Modem 5123, Exynos Modem 5300, and Exynos Auto T5123.. A heap-based buffer overflow in the 5G MM message codec can occur due to insufficient parameter validation when decoding operator-defined access category definitions. There is a heap buffer overflow in Shannon Baseband, inside the 5G MM protocol implementation (NrmmMsgCodec as it is called in Shannon according to debug strings), specifically when handling the Operator-defined access category definitions message (IEI = 0x76). • http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/171383/Shannon-Baseband-NrmmMsgCodec-Access-Category-Definitions-Heap-Buffer-Overflow.html https://bugs.chromium.org/p/project-zero/issues/detail?id=2397 https://googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2023/03/multiple-internet-to-baseband-remote-rce.html https://semiconductor.samsung.com/processor/mobile-processor https://semiconductor.samsung.com/processor/modem https://semiconductor.samsung.com/support/quality-support/product-security-updates • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •

An issue was discovered in Samsung Mobile Chipset and Baseband Modem Chipset for Exynos 1280, Exynos 2200, Exynos Modem 5123, Exynos Modem 5300, and Exynos Auto T5123. An intra-object overflow in the 5G SM message codec can occur due to insufficient parameter validation when decoding reserved options. There is an intra-object overflow in Shannon Baseband, inside the 5G SM protocol implementation (NrSmMsgCodec as it is called in Shannon according to debug strings), when decoding the Extended protocol configuration options message (IEI = 0x7B). • http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/171400/Shannon-Baseband-NrSmPcoCodec-Intra-Object-Overflow.html https://googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2023/03/multiple-internet-to-baseband-remote-rce.html https://semiconductor.samsung.com/processor/mobile-processor https://semiconductor.samsung.com/processor/modem https://semiconductor.samsung.com/support/quality-support/product-security-updates • CWE-120: Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input ('Classic Buffer Overflow') •

The Samsung Exynos Modem 5123, Exynos Modem 5300, Exynos 980, Exynos 1080, and Exynos Auto T512 baseband modem chipsets do not properly check format types specified by the Session Description Protocol (SDP) module, which can lead to a denial of service. Shannon Baseband suffers from a memory corruption vulnerability that occurs when the baseband modem processes SDP when setting up a call. SDP supports an attribute accept-type that allows multiple format types to be specified. The baseband software allocates a fixed-size buffer for these types, but does not check that the number of format types specified by the SDP is within this bound. This can lead to memory corruption when processing an accept-type attribute that contains more than 12 format types. • http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/172137/Shannon-Baseband-accept-type-SDP-Attribute-Memory-Corruption.html https://semiconductor.samsung.com/processor/modem https://semiconductor.samsung.com/support/quality-support/product-security-updates •

Improper authentication in Exynos baseband prior to SMR DEC-2022 Release 1 allows remote attacker to disable the network traffic encryption between UE and gNodeB. La autenticación incorrecta en la banda base de Exynos antes de SMR DEC-2022 Versión 1 permite a un atacante remoto desactivar el cifrado del tráfico de red entre UE y gNodeB. • https://security.samsungmobile.com/securityUpdate.smsb?year=2022&month=12 • CWE-287: Improper Authentication •
