The virConnectBaselineHypervisorCPU() and virConnectCompareHypervisorCPU() libvirt APIs, 4.x.x before 4.10.1 and 5.x.x before 5.4.1, accept an "emulator" argument to specify the program providing emulation for a domain. Since v1.2.19, libvirt will execute that program to probe the domain's capabilities. Read-only clients could specify an arbitrary path for this argument, causing libvirtd to execute a crafted executable with its own privileges. • https://access.redhat.com/libvirt-privesc-vulnerabilities https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-10168 https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202003-18 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2019-10168 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1720118 • CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') CWE-250: Execution with Unnecessary Privileges CWE-284: Improper Access Control •

It was discovered that libvirtd, versions 4.x.x before 4.10.1 and 5.x.x before 5.4.1, would permit readonly clients to use the virDomainManagedSaveDefineXML() API, which would permit them to modify managed save state files. If a managed save had already been created by a privileged user, a local attacker could modify this file such that libvirtd would execute an arbitrary program when the domain was resumed. It was discovered that libvirtd before versions 4.10.1 and 5.4.1 would permit read-only clients to use the virDomainSaveImageGetXMLDesc() API, specifying an arbitrary path which would be accessed with the permissions of the libvirtd process. An attacker with access to the libvirtd socket could use this to probe the existence of arbitrary files, cause denial of service or cause libvirtd to execute arbitrary programs. Jonathan Looney discovered that the Linux kernel default MSS is hard-coded to 48 bytes. This allows a remote peer to fragment TCP resend queues significantly more than if a larger MSS were enforced. A remote attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. This has been fixed in stable kernel releases 4.4.182, 4.9.182, 4.14.127, 4.19.52, 5.1.11, and is fixed in commits 967c05aee439e6e5d7d805e195b3a20ef5c433d6 and 5f3e2bf008c2221478101ee72f5cb4654b9fc363. • http://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/alert/ARUBA-PSA-2020-010.txt http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/06/28/2 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/07/06/3 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/07/06/4 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/108818 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:1594 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:1602 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:1699 https://access.redhat.com/security/vulnerabili • CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption CWE-405: Asymmetric Resource Consumption (Amplification) CWE-770: Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling •
