CVE-2016-6816 – Apache Tomcat 6/7/8/9 - Information Disclosure
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-6816
The code in Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.0.M11, 8.5.0 to 8.5.6, 8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.38, 7.0.0 to 7.0.72, and 6.0.0 to 6.0.47 that parsed the HTTP request line permitted invalid characters. This could be exploited, in conjunction with a proxy that also permitted the invalid characters but with a different interpretation, to inject data into the HTTP response. By manipulating the HTTP response the attacker could poison a web-cache, perform an XSS attack and/or obtain sensitive information from requests other then their own. • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/41783 http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0244.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0245.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0246.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0247.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0250.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0457.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0527.html http://www.debian.org/security/2016/dsa-3738 http://www.oracle.com/ • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation CWE-444: Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests ('HTTP Request/Response Smuggling') •
CVE-2016-8745 – tomcat: information disclosure due to incorrect Processor sharing
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-8745
A bug in the error handling of the send file code for the NIO HTTP connector in Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.0.M13, 8.5.0 to 8.5.8, 8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.39, 7.0.0 to 7.0.73 and 6.0.16 to 6.0.48 resulted in the current Processor object being added to the Processor cache multiple times. This in turn meant that the same Processor could be used for concurrent requests. Sharing a Processor can result in information leakage between requests including, not not limited to, session ID and the response body. The bug was first noticed in 8.5.x onwards where it appears the refactoring of the Connector code for 8.5.x onwards made it more likely that the bug was observed. Initially it was thought that the 8.5.x refactoring introduced the bug but further investigation has shown that the bug is present in all currently supported Tomcat versions. • http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0457.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0527.html http://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-3754 http://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-3755 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuapr2018-3678067.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuoct2017-3236626.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/94828 http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1037432 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0455 https://a • CWE-388: 7PK - Errors •
CVE-2016-6325 – tomcat: tomcat writable config files allow privilege escalation
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-6325
The Tomcat package on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 through 7, JBoss Web Server 3.0, and JBoss EWS 2 uses weak permissions for (1) /etc/sysconfig/tomcat and (2) /etc/tomcat/tomcat.conf, which allows local users to gain privileges by leveraging membership in the tomcat group. It was discovered that the Tomcat packages installed certain configuration files read by the Tomcat initialization script as writeable to the tomcat group. A member of the group or a malicious web application deployed on Tomcat could use this flaw to escalate their privileges. • http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2045.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2046.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0457.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/linuxbulletinoct2016-3090545.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/93478 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0455 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0456 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1367447 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2016-6325 • CWE-264: Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls CWE-284: Improper Access Control •
CVE-2016-6808 – mod_jk: Buffer overflow when concatenating virtual host name and URI
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-6808
Buffer overflow in Apache Tomcat Connectors (mod_jk) before 1.2.42. Desbordamiento de búfer en los Apache Tomcat Connectors (mod_jk) en versiones anteriores a 1.2.42. It was found that the length checks prior to writing to the target buffer for creating a virtual host mapping rule did not take account of the length of the virtual host name, creating the potential for a buffer overflow. • http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/139071/Apache-Tomcat-JK-ISAPI-Connector-1.2.41-Buffer-Overflow.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2957.html http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2016/Oct/44 http://tomcat.apache.org/security-jk.html http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2016/10/06/4 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/93429 http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1036969 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0193 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0194 • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer CWE-120: Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input ('Classic Buffer Overflow') •
CVE-2016-5425 – Apache Tomcat 8/7/6 (RedHat Based Distros) - Local Privilege Escalation
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-5425
The Tomcat package on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7, Fedora, CentOS, Oracle Linux, and possibly other Linux distributions uses weak permissions for /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tomcat.conf, which allows local users to gain root privileges by leveraging membership in the tomcat group. It was discovered that the Tomcat packages installed configuration file /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/tomcat.conf writeable to the tomcat group. A member of the group or a malicious web application deployed on Tomcat could use this flaw to escalate their privileges.
