In GNOME glib-networking through 2.64.2, the implementation of GTlsClientConnection skips hostname verification of the server's TLS certificate if the application fails to specify the expected server identity. This is in contrast to its intended documented behavior, to fail the certificate verification. Applications that fail to provide the server identity, including Balsa before 2.5.11 and 2.6.x before 2.6.1, accept a TLS certificate if the certificate is valid for any host. • https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/balsa/-/issues/34 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib-networking/-/issues/135 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/HLEX2IP62SU6WJ4SK3U766XGLQK3J62O https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/LRCUM22YEWWKNMN2BP5LTVDM5P4VWIXS https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/TQEQJQ4XFMFCFJTEXKL2ZO3UELBPCKSK https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202007-50 htt • CWE-295: Improper Certificate Validation •

GSocketClient in GNOME GLib through 2.62.4 may occasionally connect directly to a target address instead of connecting via a proxy server when configured to do so, because the proxy_addr field is mishandled. This bug is timing-dependent and may occur only sporadically depending on network delays. The greatest security relevance is in use cases where a proxy is used to help with privacy/anonymity, even though there is no technical barrier to a direct connection. NOTE: versions before 2.60 are unaffected. • https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1160668 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/issues/1989 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/5RIFEDSRJ4P3WFCMDUOFQ2LEILZLMDW7 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/KJMLGW55HOQXHMTIPH2PWXFRBNBWVO4W https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/MEM7MMAXMWCDPUH4MTUZ763MBB64RRLJ https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20200127-0001 •

The keyfile settings backend in GNOME GLib (aka glib2.0) before 2.60.0 creates directories using g_file_make_directory_with_parents (kfsb->dir, NULL, NULL) and files using g_file_replace_contents (kfsb->file, contents, length, NULL, FALSE, G_FILE_CREATE_REPLACE_DESTINATION, NULL, NULL, NULL). Consequently, it does not properly restrict directory (and file) permissions. Instead, for directories, 0777 permissions are used; for files, default file permissions are used. This is similar to CVE-2019-12450. La back-end de configuración de keyfile en GLib (también se conoce como glib2.0) anterior a versión 2.60.0 de GNOME, crea directorios usando g_file_make_directory_with_parents (kfsb-)dir, NULL, NULL) y archivos utilizando g_file_replace_contents (kfsb-)file, contents, length, NULL, FALSE, G_FILE_CREATE_REPLACE_DESTINATION, NULL, NULL, NULL). • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-07/msg00022.html https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=931234#12 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/commit/5e4da714f00f6bfb2ccd6d73d61329c6f3a08429 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/issues/1658 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/merge_requests/450 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r58af02e294bd07f487e2c64ffc0a29b837db5600e33b6e698b9d696b%40%3Cissues.bookkeeper.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rf4c02775860db415b4955778a131c2795223f61cb8c6a45089365 • CWE-732: Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource •

file_copy_fallback in gio/gfile.c in GNOME GLib 2.15.0 through 2.61.1 does not properly restrict file permissions while a copy operation is in progress. Instead, default permissions are used. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-06/msg00076.html https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3530 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/commit/d8f8f4d637ce43f8699ba94c9b7648beda0ca174 https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/06/msg00013.html https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/2W4WIOAGO3M743M5KZLVQZM3NGHQDYLI https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20190606-0003 https://usn.ubuntu.com/4014-1 https://usn.ubuntu.com/4014- • CWE-276: Incorrect Default Permissions CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') CWE-552: Files or Directories Accessible to External Parties •

gio/gsocketclient.c in GNOME GLib 2.59.2 does not ensure that a parent GTask remains alive during the execution of a connection-attempting enumeration, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (g_socket_client_connected_callback mishandling and application crash) via a crafted web site, as demonstrated by GNOME Web (aka Epiphany). gio/gsocketclient.c en GNOME GLib, en su versión 2.59.2, no garantiza que un GTask padre permanezca vivo durante la ejecución de una enumeración de intento de conexión, lo que permite a los atacantes remotos provocar una denegación de servicio (mala gestión de g_socket_client_connected_callback y cierre inesperado de la aplicación) mediante un sitio web manipulado, tal y como queda demostrado con GNOME Web. Este último también se conoce como Epiphany. • http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/107391 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/issues/1649 • CWE-754: Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions •
