CVE-2020-11501 – gnutls: DTLS client hello contains a random value of all zeroes
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2020-11501
GnuTLS 3.6.x before 3.6.13 uses incorrect cryptography for DTLS. The earliest affected version is 3.6.3 (2018-07-16) because of an error in a 2017-10-06 commit. The DTLS client always uses 32 '\0' bytes instead of a random value, and thus contributes no randomness to a DTLS negotiation. This breaks the security guarantees of the DTLS protocol. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-04/msg00015.html https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/-/commit/5b595e8e52653f6c5726a4cdd8fddeb6e83804d2 https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/-/issues/960 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/ILMOWPKMTZAIMK5F32TUMO34XCABUCFJ https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/WDYY3R4F5CUTFAMXH2C5NKYFVDEJLTT7 https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202004-06 https://security.netapp.com/advis • CWE-327: Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm CWE-330: Use of Insufficiently Random Values •
CVE-2019-3836 – gnutls: invalid pointer access upon receiving async handshake messages
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2019-3836
It was discovered in gnutls before version 3.6.7 upstream that there is an uninitialized pointer access in gnutls versions 3.6.3 or later which can be triggered by certain post-handshake messages. A flaw was found in the way gnutls handled malformed TLS 1.3 asynchronous messages. An attacker could use this flaw to crash an application compiled with gnutls via invalid pointer access. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-05/msg00017.html https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3600 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-3836 https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/issues/704 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/A3ETBUFBB4G7AITAOUYPGXVMBGVXKUAN https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201904-14 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20190502-0005 https://usn.ubuntu.com/3999-1 https://access. • CWE-456: Missing Initialization of a Variable CWE-824: Access of Uninitialized Pointer •
CVE-2019-3829 – gnutls: use-after-free/double-free in certificate verification
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2019-3829
A vulnerability was found in gnutls versions from 3.5.8 before 3.6.7. A memory corruption (double free) vulnerability in the certificate verification API. Any client or server application that verifies X.509 certificates with GnuTLS 3.5.8 or later is affected. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-05/msg00017.html https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3600 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-3829 https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/issues/694 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/A3ETBUFBB4G7AITAOUYPGXVMBGVXKUAN https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/L7TJIBRJWGWSH6XIO2MXIQ3W6ES4R6I4 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/ • CWE-415: Double Free CWE-416: Use After Free •
CVE-2018-16868
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2018-16868
A Bleichenbacher type side-channel based padding oracle attack was found in the way gnutls handles verification of RSA decrypted PKCS#1 v1.5 data. An attacker who is able to run process on the same physical core as the victim process, could use this to extract plaintext or in some cases downgrade any TLS connections to a vulnerable server. • http://cat.eyalro.net http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-05/msg00017.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-05/msg00068.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/106080 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2018-16868 • CWE-203: Observable Discrepancy •
CVE-2018-10846 – gnutls: "Just in Time" PRIME + PROBE cache-based side channel attack can lead to plaintext recovery
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2018-10846
A cache-based side channel in GnuTLS implementation that leads to plain text recovery in cross-VM attack setting was found. An attacker could use a combination of "Just in Time" Prime+probe attack in combination with Lucky-13 attack to recover plain text using crafted packets. A cache-based side channel attack was found in the way GnuTLS implements CBC-mode cipher suites. • http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/105138 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:3050 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:3505 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2018-10846 https://eprint.iacr.org/2018/747 https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/merge_requests/657 https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2018/10/msg00022.html https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/ILMOWPKMTZAIMK5F32TUMO34XCABUCFJ https://lists.fedor • CWE-327: Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm CWE-385: Covert Timing Channel •
