CVE-2019-3822 – curl: NTLMv2 type-3 header stack buffer overflow
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2019-3822
libcurl versions from 7.36.0 to before 7.64.0 are vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow. The function creating an outgoing NTLM type-3 header (`lib/vauth/ntlm.c:Curl_auth_create_ntlm_type3_message()`), generates the request HTTP header contents based on previously received data. The check that exists to prevent the local buffer from getting overflowed is implemented wrongly (using unsigned math) and as such it does not prevent the overflow from happening. This output data can grow larger than the local buffer if very large 'nt response' data is extracted from a previous NTLMv2 header provided by the malicious or broken HTTP server. Such a 'large value' needs to be around 1000 bytes or more. • http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/106950 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3701 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-3822 https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-436177.pdf https://curl.haxx.se/docs/CVE-2019-3822.html https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/8338a0f605bdbb3a6098bb76f666a95fc2b2f53f37fa1ecc89f1146f%40%3Cdevnull.infra.apache.org%3E https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201903-03 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20190315-0001 https://security.n • CWE-121: Stack-based Buffer Overflow CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
CVE-2019-3823 – curl: SMTP end-of-response out-of-bounds read
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2019-3823
libcurl versions from 7.34.0 to before 7.64.0 are vulnerable to a heap out-of-bounds read in the code handling the end-of-response for SMTP. If the buffer passed to `smtp_endofresp()` isn't NUL terminated and contains no character ending the parsed number, and `len` is set to 5, then the `strtol()` call reads beyond the allocated buffer. • http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/106950 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3701 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-3823 https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-936080.pdf https://curl.haxx.se/docs/CVE-2019-3823.html https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/8338a0f605bdbb3a6098bb76f666a95fc2b2f53f37fa1ecc89f1146f%40%3Cdevnull.infra.apache.org%3E https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201903-03 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20190315-0001 https://usn.ubuntu • CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read •
CVE-2018-14618 – curl: NTLM password overflow via integer overflow
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2018-14618
curl before version 7.61.1 is vulnerable to a buffer overrun in the NTLM authentication code. The internal function Curl_ntlm_core_mk_nt_hash multiplies the length of the password by two (SUM) to figure out how large temporary storage area to allocate from the heap. The length value is then subsequently used to iterate over the password and generate output into the allocated storage buffer. On systems with a 32 bit size_t, the math to calculate SUM triggers an integer overflow when the password length exceeds 2GB (2^31 bytes). This integer overflow usually causes a very small buffer to actually get allocated instead of the intended very huge one, making the use of that buffer end up in a heap buffer overflow. • http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1041605 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:3558 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:1880 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2018-14618 https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-436177.pdf https://curl.haxx.se/docs/CVE-2018-14618.html https://psirt.global.sonicwall.com/vuln-detail/SNWLID-2018-0014 https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201903-03 https://usn.ubuntu.com/3765-1 https://usn.ubuntu.com/ • CWE-122: Heap-based Buffer Overflow CWE-131: Incorrect Calculation of Buffer Size CWE-190: Integer Overflow or Wraparound •
CVE-2017-8816 – curl: NTLM buffer overflow via integer overflow
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2017-8816
The NTLM authentication feature in curl and libcurl before 7.57.0 on 32-bit platforms allows attackers to cause a denial of service (integer overflow and resultant buffer overflow, and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors involving long user and password fields. • http://security.cucumberlinux.com/security/details.php?id=161 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/101998 http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1039896 http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1040608 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:3558 https://curl.haxx.se/docs/adv_2017-12e7.html https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201712-04 https://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-4051 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2017-8816 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1515757 • CWE-122: Heap-based Buffer Overflow CWE-190: Integer Overflow or Wraparound •
CVE-2017-8817 – curl: FTP wildcard out of bounds read
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2017-8817
The FTP wildcard function in curl and libcurl before 7.57.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a string that ends with an '[' character. • http://security.cucumberlinux.com/security/details.php?id=162 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/102057 http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1039897 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:3558 https://curl.haxx.se/docs/adv_2017-ae72.html https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2017/11/msg00040.html https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201712-04 https://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-4051 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2017-8817 https://bugzilla.redhat.com& • CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read •
