CVE-2015-8845 – kernel: incorrect restoration of machine specific registers from userspace
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2015-8845
The tm_reclaim_thread function in arch/powerpc/kernel/process.c in the Linux kernel before 4.4.1 on powerpc platforms does not ensure that TM suspend mode exists before proceeding with a tm_reclaim call, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (TM Bad Thing exception and panic) via a crafted application. A flaw was found in the Linux kernel which could cause a kernel panic when restoring machine specific registers on the PowerPC platform. Incorrect transactional memory state registers could inadvertently change the call path on return from userspace and cause the kernel to enter an unknown state and crash. • http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=7f821fc9c77a9b01fe7b1d6e72717b33d8d64142 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-06/msg00054.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-08/msg00000.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-08/msg00044.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-08/msg00055.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2574.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-258 • CWE-284: Improper Access Control CWE-772: Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime •
CVE-2016-2324 – git: path_name() integer truncation and overflow leading to buffer overflow
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-2324
Integer overflow in Git before 2.7.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a (1) long filename or (2) many nested trees, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow. An integer truncation flaw and an integer overflow flaw, both leading to a heap-based buffer overflow, were found in the way Git processed certain path information. A remote attacker could create a specially crafted Git repository that would cause a Git client or server to crash or, possibly, execute arbitrary code. • http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2016-April/183147.html http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2016-March/179121.html http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2016-March/180763.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-03/msg00059.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-03/msg00060.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-03/msg00061.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer CWE-194: Unexpected Sign Extension •
CVE-2015-8816
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2015-8816
The hub_activate function in drivers/usb/core/hub.c in the Linux kernel before 4.3.5 does not properly maintain a hub-interface data structure, which allows physically proximate attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid memory access and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact by unplugging a USB hub device. • http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=e50293ef9775c5f1cf3fcc093037dd6a8c5684ea http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-04/msg00019.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-06/msg00052.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-06/msg00054.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-06/msg00059.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-07/msg00005.html http://lists.opensuse.org •
CVE-2014-8559 – kernel: fs: deadlock due to incorrect usage of rename_lock
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-8559
The d_walk function in fs/dcache.c in the Linux kernel through 3.17.2 does not properly maintain the semantics of rename_lock, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (deadlock and system hang) via a crafted application. A flaw was found in the way the Linux kernel's VFS subsystem handled file system locks. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to trigger a deadlock in the kernel, causing a denial of service on the system. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-01/msg00035.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00020.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00009.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00015.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-1976.html http: • CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption •
CVE-2014-3690 – kernel: kvm: vmx: invalid host cr4 handling across vm entries
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-3690
arch/x86/kvm/vmx.c in the KVM subsystem in the Linux kernel before 3.17.2 on Intel processors does not ensure that the value in the CR4 control register remains the same after a VM entry, which allows host OS users to kill arbitrary processes or cause a denial of service (system disruption) by leveraging /dev/kvm access, as demonstrated by PR_SET_TSC prctl calls within a modified copy of QEMU. arch/x86/kvm/vmx.c en el subsistema KVM en el kernel de Linux anterior a 3.17.2 en los procesadores Intel no asegura que el valor en el registro de control CR4 queda igual después de una entrada VM, lo que permite a usuarios del sistema operativo anfitrión cancelar varios procesos o causar una denegación de servicio (interrupción del sistema) mediante el aprovechamiento del acceso a /dev/kvm, tal y como fue demostrado por llamadas a prctl PR_SET_TSC dentro de una copia modificada de QEMU. It was found that the Linux kernel's KVM implementation did not ensure that the host CR4 control register value remained unchanged across VM entries on the same virtual CPU. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to cause a denial of service on the system. • http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=d974baa398f34393db76be45f7d4d04fbdbb4a0a http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-01/msg00035.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00015.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-0290.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA • CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption •
