In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: hda: intel-sdw-acpi: harden detection of controller The existing code currently sets a pointer to an ACPI handle before checking that it's actually a SoundWire controller. This can lead to issues where the graph walk continues and eventually fails, but the pointer was set already. This patch changes the logic so that the information provided to the caller is set when a controller is found. • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cce476954401e3421afafb25bbaa926050688b1d https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/385f287f9853da402d94278e59f594501c1d1dad •

Using refcount on CDC messages brings another problem: when the link is going to be destroyed, smcr_link_clear() will reset the QP, which then remove all the pending CQEs related to the QP in the CQ. To make sure all the CQEs will always come back so the refcount on the smc_connection can always reach 0, smc_ib_modify_qp_reset() was replaced by smc_ib_modify_qp_error(). And remove the timeout in smc_wr_tx_wait_no_pending_sends() since we need to wait for all pending WQEs done, or we may encounter use-after- free when handling CQEs. For IB device removal routine, we need to wait for all the QPs on that device been destroyed before we can destroy CQs on the device, or the refcount on smc_connection won't reach 0 and smc_sock cannot be released. • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5f08318f617b05b6ee389d8bd174c7af921ebf19 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/e8a5988a85c719ce7205cb00dcf0716dcf611332 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b85f751d71ae8e2a15e9bda98852ea9af35282eb https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/349d43127dac00c15231e8ffbcaabd70f7b0e544 • CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') •

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: locking/qrwlock: Fix ordering in queued_write_lock_slowpath() While this code is executed with the wait_lock held, a reader can acquire the lock without holding wait_lock. The writer side loops checking the value with the atomic_cond_read_acquire(), but only truly acquires the lock when the compare-and-exchange is completed successfully which isn’t ordered. This exposes the window between the acquire and the cmpxchg to an A-B-A problem which allows reads following the lock acquisition to observe values speculatively before the write lock is truly acquired. We've seen a problem in epoll where the reader does a xchg while holding the read lock, but the writer can see a value change out from under it. Writer | Reader -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ep_scan_ready_list() | |- write_lock_irq() | |- queued_write_lock_slowpath() | |- atomic_cond_read_acquire() | | read_lock_irqsave(&ep->lock, flags); --> (observes value before unlock) | chain_epi_lockless() | | epi->next = xchg(&ep->ovflist, epi); | | read_unlock_irqrestore(&ep->lock, flags); | | | atomic_cmpxchg_relaxed() | |-- READ_ONCE(ep->ovflist); | A core can order the read of the ovflist ahead of the atomic_cmpxchg_relaxed(). Switching the cmpxchg to use acquire semantics addresses this issue at which point the atomic_cond_read can be switched to use relaxed semantics. • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b519b56e378ee82caf9b079b04f5db87dedc3251 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/5902f9453a313be8fe78cbd7e7ca9dba9319fc6e https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/82808cc026811fbc3ecf0c0b267a12a339eead56 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/82fa9ced35d88581cffa4a1c856fc41fca96d80a https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d558fcdb17139728347bccc60a16af3e639649d2 https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/84a24bf8c52e66b7ac89ada5e3cfbe72d65c1896 • CWE-668: Exposure of Resource to Wrong Sphere •
