CVE-2021-42340 – DoS via memory leak with WebSocket connections
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2021-42340
The fix for bug 63362 present in Apache Tomcat 10.1.0-M1 to 10.1.0-M5, 10.0.0-M1 to 10.0.11, 9.0.40 to 9.0.53 and 8.5.60 to 8.5.71 introduced a memory leak. The object introduced to collect metrics for HTTP upgrade connections was not released for WebSocket connections once the connection was closed. This created a memory leak that, over time, could lead to a denial of service via an OutOfMemoryError. • https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=SB10379 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r8097a2d1550aa78e585fc77e602b9046e6d4099d8d132497c5387784%40%3Ccommits.myfaces.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r83a35be60f06aca2065f188ee542b9099695d57ced2e70e0885f905c%40%3Cannounce.tomcat.apache.org%3E https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202208-34 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20211104-0001 https://www.debian.org/security/2021/dsa-5009 https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/cpuapr2022.html https://www • CWE-772: Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime •
CVE-2021-41079 – Apache Tomcat DoS with unexpected TLS packet
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2021-41079
Apache Tomcat 8.5.0 to 8.5.63, 9.0.0-M1 to 9.0.43 and 10.0.0-M1 to 10.0.2 did not properly validate incoming TLS packets. When Tomcat was configured to use NIO+OpenSSL or NIO2+OpenSSL for TLS, a specially crafted packet could be used to trigger an infinite loop resulting in a denial of service. CVE-2021-33037 – Incorrect Transfer-Encoding handling with HTTP/1.0
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2021-33037
Apache Tomcat 10.0.0-M1 to 10.0.6, 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.46 and 8.5.0 to 8.5.66 did not correctly parse the HTTP transfer-encoding request header in some circumstances leading to the possibility to request smuggling when used with a reverse proxy. Specifically: - Tomcat incorrectly ignored the transfer encoding header if the client declared it would only accept an HTTP/1.0 response; - Tomcat honoured the identify encoding; and - Tomcat did not ensure that, if present, the chunked encoding was the final encoding.

CVE-2021-30639 – DoS after non-blocking IO error
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2021-30639
A vulnerability in Apache Tomcat allows an attacker to remotely trigger a denial of service. An error introduced as part of a change to improve error handling during non-blocking I/O meant that the error flag associated with the Request object was not reset between requests. This meant that once a non-blocking I/O error occurred, all future requests handled by that request object would fail. Users were able to trigger non-blocking I/O errors, e.g. by dropping a connection, thereby creating the possibility of triggering a DoS. Applications that do not use non-blocking I/O are not exposed to this vulnerability. • https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=SB10366 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r79a7c019712b39aedf7cf4da9276d80610f04441b2a4f6506cb2daaf%40%3Cdev.tomcat.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r79a7c019712b39aedf7cf4da9276d80610f04441b2a4f6506cb2daaf%40%3Cusers.tomcat.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rd84fae1f474597bdf358f5bdc0a5c453c507bd527b83e8be6b5ea3f4%40%3Cannounce.tomcat.apache.org%3E https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202208-34 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20210827-0007 https://www. • CWE-755: Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions •
