CVE-2015-5300 – ntp: MITM attacker can force ntpd to make a step larger than the panic threshold
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2015-5300
The panic_gate check in NTP before 4.2.8p5 is only re-enabled after the first change to the system clock that was greater than 128 milliseconds by default, which allows remote attackers to set NTP to an arbitrary time when started with the -g option, or to alter the time by up to 900 seconds otherwise by responding to an unspecified number of requests from trusted sources, and leveraging a resulting denial of service (abort and restart). It was found that ntpd did not correctly implement the threshold limitation for the '-g' option, which is used to set the time without any restrictions. A man-in-the-middle attacker able to intercept NTP traffic between a connecting client and an NTP server could use this flaw to force that client to make multiple steps larger than the panic threshold, effectively changing the time to an arbitrary value at any time. • http://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/efixes/security/ntp_advisory5.asc http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2015-November/170684.html http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2015-November/170926.html http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/package-announce/2016-February/177507.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-04/msg00059.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-04/msg00060.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announc • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation CWE-361: 7PK - Time and State •
CVE-2015-3281 – haproxy: information leak in buffer_slow_realign()
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2015-3281
The buffer_slow_realign function in HAProxy 1.5.x before 1.5.14 and 1.6-dev does not properly realign a buffer that is used for pending outgoing data, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information (uninitialized memory contents of previous requests) via a crafted request. An implementation error related to the memory management of request and responses was found within HAProxy's buffer_slow_realign() function. An unauthenticated remote attacker could possibly use this flaw to leak certain memory buffer contents from a past request or session. • http://git.haproxy.org/?p=haproxy-1.5.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=7ec765568883b2d4e5a2796adbeb492a22ec9bd4 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-10/msg00001.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-10/msg00023.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-1741.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-2666.html http://www.debian.org/security/2015/dsa-3301 http://www.haproxy.org/news.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/75554 http://www.ubuntu.com& • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer •
CVE-2015-0239 – kernel: kvm: insufficient sysenter emulation when invoked from 16-bit code
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2015-0239
The em_sysenter function in arch/x86/kvm/emulate.c in the Linux kernel before 3.18.5, when the guest OS lacks SYSENTER MSR initialization, allows guest OS users to gain guest OS privileges or cause a denial of service (guest OS crash) by triggering use of a 16-bit code segment for emulation of a SYSENTER instruction. It was found that the Linux kernel KVM subsystem's sysenter instruction emulation was not sufficient. An unprivileged guest user could use this flaw to escalate their privileges by tricking the hypervisor to emulate a SYSENTER instruction in 16-bit mode, if the guest OS did not initialize the SYSENTER model-specific registers (MSRs). Note: Certified guest operating systems for Red Hat Enterprise Linux with KVM do initialize the SYSENTER MSRs and are thus not vulnerable to this issue when running on a KVM hypervisor. • http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=f3747379accba8e95d70cec0eae0582c8c182050 http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.commits.head/502245 http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-1272.html http://www.debian.org/security/2015/dsa-3170 http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v3.x/ChangeLog-3.18.5 http://www.mandriva.com/security/advisories?name=MDVSA-2015:058 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2015/01/27/6 http://www • CWE-269: Improper Privilege Management CWE-391: Unchecked Error Condition •
CVE-2014-9584 – kernel: isofs: unchecked printing of ER records
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-9584
The parse_rock_ridge_inode_internal function in fs/isofs/rock.c in the Linux kernel before 3.18.2 does not validate a length value in the Extensions Reference (ER) System Use Field, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory via a crafted iso9660 image. An information leak flaw was found in the way the Linux kernel's ISO9660 file system implementation accessed data on an ISO9660 image with RockRidge Extension Reference (ER) records. An attacker with physical access to the system could use this flaw to disclose up to 255 bytes of kernel memory. • http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=4e2024624e678f0ebb916e6192bd23c1f9fdf696 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00020.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00000.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00009.html http://lists.o • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation •
CVE-2014-3687 – kernel: net: sctp: fix panic on duplicate ASCONF chunks
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-3687
The sctp_assoc_lookup_asconf_ack function in net/sctp/associola.c in the SCTP implementation in the Linux kernel through 3.17.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) via duplicate ASCONF chunks that trigger an incorrect uncork within the side-effect interpreter. A flaw was found in the way the Linux kernel's Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) implementation handled duplicate Address Configuration Change Chunks (ASCONF). A remote attacker could use either of these flaws to crash the system. • http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=b69040d8e39f20d5215a03502a8e8b4c6ab78395 http://linux.oracle.com/errata/ELSA-2014-3087.html http://linux.oracle.com/errata/ELSA-2014-3088.html http://linux.oracle.com/errata/ELSA-2014-3089.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-01/msg00035.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00020.html • CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption •
