In elfutils 0.175, a heap-based buffer over-read was discovered in the function elf32_xlatetom in elf32_xlatetom.c in libelf. A crafted ELF input can cause a segmentation fault leading to denial of service (program crash) because ebl_core_note does not reject malformed core file notes. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-06/msg00052.html https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:2197 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3575 https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/02/msg00036.html https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2021/10/msg00030.html https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=24089 https://sourceware.org/ml/elfutils-devel/2019-q1/msg00049.html https://usn.ubuntu.com/4012-1 https://access.redhat.com&#x • CWE-122: Heap-based Buffer Overflow CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read •

libcurl versions from 7.36.0 to before 7.64.0 is vulnerable to a heap buffer out-of-bounds read. The function handling incoming NTLM type-2 messages (`lib/vauth/ntlm.c:ntlm_decode_type2_target`) does not validate incoming data correctly and is subject to an integer overflow vulnerability. Using that overflow, a malicious or broken NTLM server could trick libcurl to accept a bad length + offset combination that would lead to a buffer read out-of-bounds. • https://github.com/michelleamesquita/CVE-2018-16890 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/106947 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3701 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2018-16890 https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-436177.pdf https://curl.haxx.se/docs/CVE-2018-16890.html https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/8338a0f605bdbb3a6098bb76f666a95fc2b2f53f37fa1ecc89f1146f%40%3Cdevnull.infra.apache.org%3E https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20190315-0001 https://sup • CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read CWE-190: Integer Overflow or Wraparound •

libcurl versions from 7.36.0 to before 7.64.0 are vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow. The function creating an outgoing NTLM type-3 header (`lib/vauth/ntlm.c:Curl_auth_create_ntlm_type3_message()`), generates the request HTTP header contents based on previously received data. The check that exists to prevent the local buffer from getting overflowed is implemented wrongly (using unsigned math) and as such it does not prevent the overflow from happening. This output data can grow larger than the local buffer if very large 'nt response' data is extracted from a previous NTLMv2 header provided by the malicious or broken HTTP server. Such a 'large value' needs to be around 1000 bytes or more. • http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/106950 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3701 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2019-3822 https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-436177.pdf https://curl.haxx.se/docs/CVE-2019-3822.html https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/8338a0f605bdbb3a6098bb76f666a95fc2b2f53f37fa1ecc89f1146f%40%3Cdevnull.infra.apache.org%3E https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201903-03 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20190315-0001 https://security.n • CWE-121: Stack-based Buffer Overflow CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •

libarchive version commit bf9aec176c6748f0ee7a678c5f9f9555b9a757c1 onwards (release v3.0.2 onwards) contains a CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read vulnerability in 7zip decompression, archive_read_support_format_7zip.c, header_bytes() that can result in a crash (denial of service). • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-04/msg00055.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-12/msg00012.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-12/msg00015.html https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:2298 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3698 https://github.com/libarchive/libarchive/pull/1120 https://github.com/libarchive/libarchive/pull/1120/commits/65a23f5dbee4497064e9bb467f81138a62b0dae1 https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-anno • CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read •
