19 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: scsi_debug: Don't call kcalloc() if size arg is zero If the size arg to kcalloc() is zero, it returns ZERO_SIZE_PTR. Because of that, for a following NULL pointer check to work on the returned pointer, kcalloc() must not be called with the size arg equal to zero. Return early without error before the kcalloc() call if size arg is zero. 19 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io-wq: check for wq exit after adding new worker task_work We check IO_WQ_BIT_EXIT before attempting to create a new worker, and wq exit cancels pending work if we have any. But it's possible to have a race between the two, where creation checks exit finding it not set, but we're in the process of exiting. The exit side will cancel pending creation task_work, but there's a gap where we add task_work after we've canceled existing creations a... • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4b4e5bbf9386d4ec21d91c0cb0fd60b9bba778ec •

19 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: timer: Set lower bound of start tick time Currently ALSA timer doesn't have the lower limit of the start tick time, and it allows a very small size, e.g. 1 tick with 1ns resolution for hrtimer. Such a situation may lead to an unexpected RCU stall, where the callback repeatedly queuing the expire update, as reported by fuzzer. This patch introduces a sanity check of the timer start tick time, so that the system returns an error when a ... • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/68396c825c43664b20a3a1ba546844deb2b4e48f • CWE-99: Improper Control of Resource Identifiers ('Resource Injection') •

19 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: Fix deadlocks with kctl removals at disconnection In snd_card_disconnect(), we set card->shutdown flag at the beginning, call callbacks and do sync for card->power_ref_sleep waiters at the end. The callback may delete a kctl element, and this can lead to a deadlock when the device was in the suspended state. 19 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix potential hang in nilfs_detach_log_writer() Syzbot has reported a potential hang in nilfs_detach_log_writer() called during nilfs2 unmount. Analysis revealed that this is because nilfs_segctor_sync(), which synchronizes with the log writer thread, can be called after nilfs_segctor_destroy() terminates that thread, as shown in the call trace below: nilfs_detach_log_writer nilfs_segctor_destroy nilfs_segctor_kill_thread --> Shut d... • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/911d38be151921a5d152bb55e81fd752384c6830 •

19 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: epoll: be better about file lifetimes epoll can call out to vfs_poll() with a file pointer that may race with the last 'fput()'. That would make f_count go down to zero, and while the ep->mtx locking means that the resulting file pointer tear-down will be blocked until the poll returns, it means that f_count is already dead, and any use of it won't actually get a reference to the file any more: it's dead regardless. Make sure we have a vali... • https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/cbfd1088e24ec4c1199756a37cb8e4cd0a4b016e •

08 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Fix division by zero in setup_dsc_config When slice_height is 0, the division by slice_height in the calculation of the number of slices will cause a division by zero driver crash. This leaves the kernel in a state that requires a reboot. This patch adds a check to avoid the division by zero. The stack trace below is for the 6.8.4 Kernel. 03 Jun 2024 — In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/9p: only translate RWX permissions for plain 9P2000 Garbage in plain 9P2000's perm bits is allowed through, which causes it to be able to set (among others) the suid bit.
