CVE-2015-0571
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2015-0571
The WLAN (aka Wi-Fi) driver for the Linux kernel 3.x and 4.x, as used in Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC) Android contributions for MSM devices and other products, does not verify authorization for private SET IOCTL calls, which allows attackers to gain privileges via a crafted application, related to wlan_hdd_hostapd.c and wlan_hdd_wext.c. • http://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2016-05-01.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/77691 https://www.codeaurora.org/projects/security-advisories/multiple-issues-wlan-driver-allow-local-privilege-escalation-cve-2015 • CWE-862: Missing Authorization •
CVE-2016-4557 – Linux Kernel 4.4 (Ubuntu 16.04) - 'BPF' Local Privilege Escalation
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-4557
The replace_map_fd_with_map_ptr function in kernel/bpf/verifier.c in the Linux kernel before 4.5.5 does not properly maintain an fd data structure, which allows local users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service (use-after-free) via crafted BPF instructions that reference an incorrect file descriptor. Linux kernel versions 4.4 and above where CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL and kernel.unprivileged_bpf_disabled sysctl is not set to 1 allow for BPF to be abused for privilege escalation. Ubuntu 16.04 has all of these conditions met. • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/40759 https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/39772 http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=8358b02bf67d3a5d8a825070e1aa73f25fb2e4c7 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-06/msg00044.html http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v4.x/ChangeLog-4.5.5 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2016/05/06/4 https://bugs.chromium.org/p/project-zero/issues/detail?id=808 https://bugs.debian.org •
CVE-2016-2187
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-2187
The gtco_probe function in drivers/input/tablet/gtco.c in the Linux kernel through 4.5.2 allows physically proximate attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash) via a crafted endpoints value in a USB device descriptor. • http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=162f98dea487206d9ab79fc12ed64700667a894d http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-06/msg00052.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2016-08/msg00007.html http://www.debian.org/security/2016/dsa-3607 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/85425 http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/USN-2989-1 http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/USN-2996-1 http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/USN-2997-1 http://www.ubuntu •
CVE-2016-2854 – AUFS (Ubuntu 15.10) - 'allow_userns' Fuse/Xattr User Namespaces Privilege Escalation
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-2854
The aufs module for the Linux kernel 3.x and 4.x does not properly maintain POSIX ACL xattr data, which allows local users to gain privileges by leveraging a group-writable setgid directory. AUFS (Ubuntu 15.10) suffers from an allow_userns fuse/xattr user namespaces privilege escalation vulnerability. • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/41761 http://www.halfdog.net/Security/2016/AufsPrivilegeEscalationInUserNamespaces http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2016/02/24/9 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/96838 https://sourceforge.net/p/aufs/mailman/message/34864744 • CWE-269: Improper Privilege Management •
CVE-2016-2117 – kernel: Kernel memory leakage to ethernet frames due to buffer overflow in ethernet drivers
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-2117
The atl2_probe function in drivers/net/ethernet/atheros/atlx/atl2.c in the Linux kernel through 4.5.2 incorrectly enables scatter/gather I/O, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory by reading packet data. It was discovered that the atl2_probe() function in the Atheros L2 Ethernet driver in the Linux kernel incorrectly enabled scatter/gather I/O. A remote attacker could use this flaw to obtain potentially sensitive information from the kernel memory. • http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=f43bfaeddc79effbf3d0fcb53ca477cca66f3db8 http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2574.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-2584.html http://www.debian.org/security/2016/dsa-3607 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2016/03/16/7 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/linuxbulletinjul2016-3090544.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/ovmbulletinjul2016-3090546.html http://www.secu • CWE-120: Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input ('Classic Buffer Overflow') CWE-200: Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor •
