CVE-2017-9229 – oniguruma: Invalid pointer dereference in left_adjust_char_head()
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2017-9229
An issue was discovered in Oniguruma 6.2.0, as used in Oniguruma-mod in Ruby through 2.4.1 and mbstring in PHP through 7.1.5. A SIGSEGV occurs in left_adjust_char_head() during regular expression compilation. Invalid handling of reg->dmax in forward_search_range() could result in an invalid pointer dereference, normally as an immediate denial-of-service condition. • https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:1296 https://github.com/kkos/oniguruma/commit/b690371bbf97794b4a1d3f295d4fb9a8b05d402d https://github.com/kkos/oniguruma/issues/59 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2017-9229 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1466746 • CWE-476: NULL Pointer Dereference CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
CVE-2017-9225
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2017-9225
An issue was discovered in Oniguruma 6.2.0, as used in Oniguruma-mod in Ruby through 2.4.1 and mbstring in PHP through 7.1.5. A stack out-of-bounds write in onigenc_unicode_get_case_fold_codes_by_str() occurs during regular expression compilation. Code point 0xFFFFFFFF is not properly handled in unicode_unfold_key(). A malformed regular expression could result in 4 bytes being written off the end of a stack buffer of expand_case_fold_string() during the call to onigenc_unicode_get_case_fold_codes_by_str(), a typical stack buffer overflow. Se descubrió un problema en Oniguruma versión 6.2.0, tal como es usado en Oniguruma-mod en Ruby hasta la versión 2.4.1 y mbstring en PHP hasta la versión 7.1.5. • https://github.com/kkos/oniguruma/commit/166a6c3999bf06b4de0ab4ce6b088a468cc4029f https://github.com/kkos/oniguruma/issues/56 • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
CVE-2016-2336
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-2336
Type confusion exists in two methods of Ruby's WIN32OLE class, ole_invoke and ole_query_interface. Attacker passing different type of object than this assumed by developers can cause arbitrary code execution. • http://www.talosintelligence.com/reports/TALOS-2016-0029 •

CVE-2016-2339
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2016-2339
An exploitable heap overflow vulnerability exists in the Fiddle::Function.new "initialize" function functionality of Ruby. In Fiddle::Function.new "initialize" heap buffer "arg_types" allocation is made based on args array length. Specially constructed object passed as element of args array can increase this array size after mentioned allocation and cause heap overflow. • http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/91234 http://www.talosintelligence.com/reports/TALOS-2016-0034 https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2018/07/msg00012.html • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer •
