A race condition flaw was found in Ansible Engine 2.7.17 and prior, 2.8.9 and prior, 2.9.6 and prior when running a playbook with an unprivileged become user. When Ansible needs to run a module with become user, the temporary directory is created in /var/tmp. This directory is created with "umask 77 && mkdir -p <dir>"; this operation does not fail if the directory already exists and is owned by another user. An attacker could take advantage to gain control of the become user as the target directory can be retrieved by iterating '/proc/<pid>/cmdline'. • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2020-1733 https://github.com/ansible/ansible/issues/67791 https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2020/05/msg00005.html https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/DKPA4KC3OJSUFASUYMG66HKJE7ADNGFW https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/MRRYUU5ZBLPBXCYG6CFP35D64NP2UB2S https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/WQVOQD4VAIXXTVQAJK • CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') CWE-377: Insecure Temporary File •

cyrus-sasl (aka Cyrus SASL) 2.1.27 has an out-of-bounds write leading to unauthenticated remote denial-of-service in OpenLDAP via a malformed LDAP packet. • http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2020/Jul/23 http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2020/Jul/24 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2022/02/23/4 https://github.com/cyrusimap/cyrus-sasl/issues/587 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r58af02e294bd07f487e2c64ffc0a29b837db5600e33b6e698b9d696b%40%3Cissues.bookkeeper.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rf4c02775860db415b4955778a131c2795223f61cb8c6a450893651e4%40%3Cissues.bookkeeper.apache.org%3E https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/12/msg00027.h • CWE-193: Off-by-one Error CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •

Hardlink before 0.1.2 operates on full file system objects path names which can allow a local attacker to use this flaw to conduct symlink attacks. • https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2011-3632 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=645516 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2011-3632 https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2011-3632 https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2011/10/15/2 https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2011/10/20/6 • CWE-59: Improper Link Resolution Before File Access ('Link Following') •

Hardlink before 0.1.2 has multiple integer overflows leading to heap-based buffer overflows because of the way string lengths concatenation is done in the calculation of the required memory space to be used. A remote attacker could provide a specially-crafted directory tree and trick the local user into consolidating it, leading to hardlink executable crash or potentially arbitrary code execution with user privileges. • https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2011-3631 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=645516 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2011-3631 https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2011-3631 • CWE-190: Integer Overflow or Wraparound •

Hardlink before 0.1.2 suffer from multiple stack-based buffer overflow flaws because of the way directory trees with deeply nested directories are processed. A remote attacker could provide a specially-crafted directory tree, and trick the local user into consolidating it, leading to hardlink executable crash, or, potentially arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the user running the hardlink executable. • https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/cve-2011-3630 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=645516 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2011-3630 https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2011-3630 https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2011/10/20/6 • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
