The implementations of EAP-PWD in wpa_supplicant EAP Peer, when built against a crypto library missing explicit validation on imported elements, do not validate the scalar and element values in EAP-pwd-Commit. An attacker may complete authentication, session key and control of the data connection with a client. Both hostapd with SAE support and wpa_supplicant with SAE support prior to and including version 2.4 are affected. Both hostapd with EAP-pwd support and wpa_supplicant with EAP-pwd support prior to and including version 2.7 are affected. The implementations of EAP-PWD in hostapd and wpa_supplicant are vulnerable to side-channel attacks as a result of cache access patterns. All versions of hostapd and wpa_supplicant with EAP-PWD support are vulnerable. The ability to install and execute applications is necessary for a successful attack. Memory access patterns are visible in a shared cache. Weak passwords may be cracked. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-02/msg00021.html http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/152914/FreeBSD-Security-Advisory-FreeBSD-SA-19-03.wpa.html https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/07/msg00030.html https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/56OBBOJJSKRTDGEXZOVFSTP4HDSDBLAE https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/SVMJOFEYBGXZLFF5IOLW67SSOPKFEJP3 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/p • CWE-203: Observable Discrepancy CWE-524: Use of Cache Containing Sensitive Information •

In FreeBSD 11.2-STABLE after r338618 and before r343786, 12.0-STABLE before r343781, and 12.0-RELEASE before 12.0-RELEASE-p3, a bug in the reference count implementation for UNIX domain sockets can cause a file structure to be incorrectly released potentially allowing a malicious local user to gain root privileges or escape from a jail. • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/47081 https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/47829 https://github.com/raymontag/CVE-2019-5596 http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/155790/FreeBSD-fd-Privilege-Escalation.html https://security.FreeBSD.org/advisories/FreeBSD-SA-19:02.fd.asc •

In FreeBSD before 11.2-STABLE(r343782), 11.2-RELEASE-p9, 12.0-STABLE(r343781), and 12.0-RELEASE-p3, kernel callee-save registers are not properly sanitized before return from system calls, potentially allowing some kernel data used in the system call to be exposed. • https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/156624 https://security.FreeBSD.org/advisories/FreeBSD-SA-19:01.syscall.asc • CWE-459: Incomplete Cleanup •

An issue was discovered in OpenSSH 7.9. Due to the scp implementation being derived from 1983 rcp, the server chooses which files/directories are sent to the client. However, the scp client only performs cursory validation of the object name returned (only directory traversal attacks are prevented). A malicious scp server (or Man-in-The-Middle attacker) can overwrite arbitrary files in the scp client target directory. If recursive operation (-r) is performed, the server can manipulate subdirectories as well (for example, to overwrite the .ssh/authorized_keys file). • https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/46516 https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/46193 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-06/msg00058.html http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/04/18/1 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2022/08/02/1 http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/106741 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:3702 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1677794 https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-412672&# • CWE-20: Improper Input Validation CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') •
