Remote code execution is possible with Apache Tomcat before 6.0.48, 7.x before 7.0.73, 8.x before 8.0.39, 8.5.x before 8.5.7, and 9.x before 9.0.0.M12 if JmxRemoteLifecycleListener is used and an attacker can reach JMX ports. The issue exists because this listener wasn't updated for consistency with the CVE-2016-3427 Oracle patch that affected credential types. The JmxRemoteLifecycleListener was not updated to take account of Oracle's fix for CVE-2016-3427. • http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0457.html http://seclists.org/oss-sec/2016/q4/502 http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=1767644 http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=1767656 http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=1767676 http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=1767684 http://tomcat.apache.org/security-6.html http://tomcat.apache.org/security-7.html http://tomcat.apache.org/security-8.html http://tomcat.apache.org&#x • CWE-502: Deserialization of Untrusted Data •

The code in Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.0.M11, 8.5.0 to 8.5.6, 8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.38, 7.0.0 to 7.0.72, and 6.0.0 to 6.0.47 that parsed the HTTP request line permitted invalid characters. This could be exploited, in conjunction with a proxy that also permitted the invalid characters but with a different interpretation, to inject data into the HTTP response. By manipulating the HTTP response the attacker could poison a web-cache, perform an XSS attack and/or obtain sensitive information from requests other then their own. A bug in the error handling of the send file code for the NIO HTTP connector in Apache Tomcat 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.0.M13, 8.5.0 to 8.5.8, 8.0.0.RC1 to 8.0.39, 7.0.0 to 7.0.73 and 6.0.16 to 6.0.48 resulted in the current Processor object being added to the Processor cache multiple times. This in turn meant that the same Processor could be used for concurrent requests. Sharing a Processor can result in information leakage between requests including, not not limited to, session ID and the response body. The bug was first noticed in 8.5.x onwards where it appears the refactoring of the Connector code for 8.5.x onwards made it more likely that the bug was observed. Initially it was thought that the 8.5.x refactoring introduced the bug but further investigation has shown that the bug is present in all currently supported Tomcat versions. • http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0457.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0527.html http://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-3754 http://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-3755 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuapr2018-3678067.html http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuoct2017-3236626.html http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/94828 http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1037432 https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017:0455 https://a • CWE-388: 7PK - Errors •
