CVE-2014-8134 – kernel: x86: espfix not working for 32-bit KVM paravirt guests
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-8134
The paravirt_ops_setup function in arch/x86/kernel/kvm.c in the Linux kernel through 3.18 uses an improper paravirt_enabled setting for KVM guest kernels, which makes it easier for guest OS users to bypass the ASLR protection mechanism via a crafted application that reads a 16-bit value. It was found that the espfix functionality does not work for 32-bit KVM paravirtualized guests. A local, unprivileged guest user could potentially use this flaw to leak kernel stack addresses. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00009.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00015.html http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/2014/CVE-2014-8134.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2016-0855.html http://secunia.com/advisories/62336 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/t •
CVE-2014-9116
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-9116
The write_one_header function in mutt 1.5.23 does not properly handle newline characters at the beginning of a header, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a header with an empty body, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow in the mutt_substrdup function. • http://advisories.mageia.org/MGASA-2014-0509.html http://dev.mutt.org/trac/ticket/3716 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-01/msg00002.html http://www.debian.org/security/2014/dsa-3083 http://www.mandriva.com/security/advisories?name=MDVSA-2014:245 http://www.mandriva.com/security/advisories?name=MDVSA-2015:078 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2014/11/27/5 http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2014/11/27/9 http://www.securityfocus& • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer •
CVE-2014-8559 – kernel: fs: deadlock due to incorrect usage of rename_lock
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-8559
The d_walk function in fs/dcache.c in the Linux kernel through 3.17.2 does not properly maintain the semantics of rename_lock, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (deadlock and system hang) via a crafted application. A flaw was found in the way the Linux kernel's VFS subsystem handled file system locks. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to trigger a deadlock in the kernel, causing a denial of service on the system. • http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-01/msg00035.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00020.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00009.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00015.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-1976.html http: • CWE-400: Uncontrolled Resource Consumption •
CVE-2014-8369 – kernel: kvm: excessive pages un-pinning in kvm_iommu_map error path
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-8369
The kvm_iommu_map_pages function in virt/kvm/iommu.c in the Linux kernel through 3.17.2 miscalculates the number of pages during the handling of a mapping failure, which allows guest OS users to cause a denial of service (host OS page unpinning) or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging guest OS privileges. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incorrect fix for CVE-2014-3601. It was found that the fix for CVE-2014-3601 was incomplete: the Linux kernel's kvm_iommu_map_pages() function still handled IOMMU mapping failures incorrectly. • http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=3d32e4dbe71374a6780eaf51d719d76f9a9bf22f http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-04/msg00015.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-0674.html http://secunia.com/advisories/62326 http://secunia.com/advisories/62336 http://www.debian.org/security/ • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer •
CVE-2014-7826 – kernel: insufficient syscall number validation in perf and ftrace subsystems
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2014-7826
kernel/trace/trace_syscalls.c in the Linux kernel through 3.17.2 does not properly handle private syscall numbers during use of the ftrace subsystem, which allows local users to gain privileges or cause a denial of service (invalid pointer dereference) via a crafted application. kernel/trace/trace_syscalls.c en el kernel de Linux hasta 3.17.2 no maneja debidamente los números privados de las llamadas al sistema durante el uso del subsistema ftrace, lo que permite a usuarios locales ganar privilegios o causar una denegación de servicio (referencia a puntero inválido) a través de una aplicación manipulada. An out-of-bounds memory access flaw, CVE-2014-7825, was found in the syscall tracing functionality of the Linux kernel's perf subsystem. A local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to crash the system. Additionally, an out-of-bounds memory access flaw, CVE-2014-7826, was found in the syscall tracing functionality of the Linux kernel's ftrace subsystem. On a system with ftrace syscall tracing enabled, a local, unprivileged user could use this flaw to crash the system, or escalate their privileges. • http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git%3Ba=commit%3Bh=086ba77a6db00ed858ff07451bedee197df868c9 http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00010.html http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2015-03/msg00025.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2014-1943.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-0290.html http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2015-0864.html http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2014/11/06/11 http:// • CWE-476: NULL Pointer Dereference •
