Descriptions

WebAccess Versions 8.3.2 and prior. The application fails to properly validate the length of user-supplied data, causing a buffer overflow condition that allows for arbitrary remote code execution.

WebAccess en versiones 8.3.2 y anteriores. La aplicación no valida correctamente la longitud de los datos proporcionados por el usuario, provocando una condición de desbordamiento de búfer que permite la ejecución remota de código.

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of Advantech WebAccess Client. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability.
The specific flaw exists within bwswfcfg.exe, which is accessed through the 0x2711 IOCTL in the webvrpcs process. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of Administrator.
