The iconv function in the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6) 2.32 and earlier, when processing invalid input sequences in the ISO-2022-JP-3 encoding, fails an assertion in the code path and aborts the program, potentially resulting in a denial of service. A flaw was found in glibc's iconv() functionality. This flaw allows an attacker capable of supplying a crafted sequence of characters to an application using iconv() to convert from ISO-2022-JP-3 to cause an assertion failure. The iconv feature in the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6) through 2.32, when processing invalid multi-byte input sequences in the EUC-KR encoding, may have a buffer over-read. A flaw was found in glibc. When processing input in the EUC-KR encoding, an invalid input sequence could cause glibc to read beyond the end of a buffer, resulting in a segmentation fault. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. • https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r32d767ac804e9b8aad4355bb85960a6a1385eab7afff549a5e98660f%40%3Cjira.kafka.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r448bb851cc8e6e3f93f3c28c70032b37062625d81214744474ac49e7%40%3Cdev.kafka.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r4806a391091e082bdea17266452ca656ebc176e51bb3932733b3a0a2%40%3Cjira.kafka.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r499e4f96d0b5109ef083f2feccd33c51650c1b7d7068aa3bd47efca9%40%3Cjira.kafka.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r5af4430421bb6f9973294691a7904bbd260937e9eef96b20556f43ff%40%3Cj • CWE-119: Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer CWE-125: Out-of-bounds Read •

sysdeps/i386/ldbl2mpn.c in the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6) before 2.23 on x86 targets has a stack-based buffer overflow if the input to any of the printf family of functions is an 80-bit long double with a non-canonical bit pattern, as seen when passing a \x00\x04\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x04 value to sprintf. NOTE: the issue does not affect glibc by default in 2016 or later (i.e., 2.23 or later) because of commits made in 2015 for inlining of C99 math functions through use of GCC built-ins. In other words, the reference to 2.23 is intentional despite the mention of "Fixed for glibc 2.33" in the 26649 reference. • https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202101-20 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20210122-0004 https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26649 https://sourceware.org/pipermail/libc-alpha/2020-September/117779.html https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2020-29573 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1905213 • CWE-121: Stack-based Buffer Overflow CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •

A use-after-free vulnerability introduced in glibc upstream version 2.14 was found in the way the tilde expansion was carried out. Directory paths containing an initial tilde followed by a valid username were affected by this issue. A local attacker could exploit this flaw by creating a specially crafted path that, when processed by the glob function, would potentially lead to arbitrary code execution. This was fixed in version 2.32. • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2020-1752 https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r58af02e294bd07f487e2c64ffc0a29b837db5600e33b6e698b9d696b%40%3Cissues.bookkeeper.apache.org%3E https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rf4c02775860db415b4955778a131c2795223f61cb8c6a450893651e4%40%3Cissues.bookkeeper.apache.org%3E https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2022/10/msg00021.html https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202101-20 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20200511-0005 https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id • CWE-416: Use After Free •

An out-of-bounds write vulnerability was found in glibc before 2.31 when handling signal trampolines on PowerPC. Specifically, the backtrace function did not properly check the array bounds when storing the frame address, resulting in a denial of service or potential code execution. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2020-1751 https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202006-04 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20200430-0002 https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=25423 https://usn.ubuntu.com/4416-1 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2020-1751 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1810719 • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
