CVE-2022-1729 – kernel: race condition in perf_event_open leads to privilege escalation
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2022-1729
A race condition was found the Linux kernel in perf_event_open() which can be exploited by an unprivileged user to gain root privileges. The bug allows to build several exploit primitives such as kernel address information leak, arbitrary execution, etc. A use-after-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s performance events functionality. A user triggers a race condition in setting up performance monitoring between the leading PERF_TYPE_TRACEPOINT and sub PERF_EVENT_HARDWARE plus the PERF_EVENT_SOFTWARE using the perf_event_open() function with these three types. • https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=3ac6487e584a1eb54071dbe1212e05b884136704 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230214-0006 https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2022/05/20/2 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2022-1729 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2086753 • CWE-362: Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition') CWE-366: Race Condition within a Thread •
CVE-2022-29526 – golang: syscall: faccessat checks wrong group
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2022-29526
Go before 1.17.10 and 1.18.x before 1.18.2 has Incorrect Privilege Assignment. When called with a non-zero flags parameter, the Faccessat function could incorrectly report that a file is accessible. Faccessat function when calling a process by checking the group. This flaw allows an attacker to check the process group permissions rather than a member of the file's group, affecting system availability. • https://github.com/golang/go/issues/52313 https://groups.google.com/g/golang-announce https://groups.google.com/g/golang-announce/c/Y5qrqw_lWdU https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/Q6GE5EQGE4L2KRVGW4T75QVIYAXCLO5X https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/RQXU752ALW53OJAF5MG3WMR5CCZVLWW6 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/Z55VUVGO7E5PJFXIOVAY373NZRHBNCI5 https://lists • CWE-269: Improper Privilege Management CWE-280: Improper Handling of Insufficient Permissions or Privileges •
CVE-2022-2068 – The c_rehash script allows command injection
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2022-2068
In addition to the c_rehash shell command injection identified in CVE-2022-1292, further circumstances where the c_rehash script does not properly sanitise shell metacharacters to prevent command injection were found by code review. When the CVE-2022-1292 was fixed it was not discovered that there are other places in the script where the file names of certificates being hashed were possibly passed to a command executed through the shell. This script is distributed by some operating systems in a manner where it is automatically executed. On such operating systems, an attacker could execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of the script. Use of the c_rehash script is considered obsolete and should be replaced by the OpenSSL rehash command line tool. • https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-332410.pdf https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git%3Ba=commitdiff%3Bh=2c9c35870601b4a44d86ddbf512b38df38285cfa https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git%3Ba=commitdiff%3Bh=7a9c027159fe9e1bbc2cd38a8a2914bff0d5abd9 https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git%3Ba=commitdiff%3Bh=9639817dac8bbbaa64d09efad7464ccc405527c7 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/6WZZBKUHQFGSKGNXXKICSRPL7AMVW5M5 https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list • CWE-77: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in a Command ('Command Injection') CWE-78: Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection') •
CVE-2021-3696 – grub2: Crafted PNG image may lead to out-of-bound write during huffman table handling
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2021-3696
A heap out-of-bounds write may heppen during the handling of Huffman tables in the PNG reader. This may lead to data corruption in the heap space. Confidentiality, Integrity and Availablity impact may be considered Low as it's very complex to an attacker control the encoding and positioning of corrupted Huffman entries to achieve results such as arbitrary code execution and/or secure boot circumvention. This flaw affects grub2 versions prior grub-2.12. Puede producirse una escritura fuera de límites de la pila durante el manejo de las tablas Huffman en el lector PNG. • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1991686 https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202209-12 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20220930-0001 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2021-3696 • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
CVE-2022-28734 – Out-of-bounds write when handling split HTTP headers
https://notcve.org/view.php?id=CVE-2022-28734
Out-of-bounds write when handling split HTTP headers; When handling split HTTP headers, GRUB2 HTTP code accidentally moves its internal data buffer point by one position. This can lead to a out-of-bound write further when parsing the HTTP request, writing a NULL byte past the buffer. It's conceivable that an attacker controlled set of packets can lead to corruption of the GRUB2's internal memory metadata. A flaw was found in grub2 when handling split HTTP headers. While processing a split HTTP header, grub2 wrongly advances its control pointer to the internal buffer by one position, which can lead to an out-of-bounds write. • https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2022-28734 https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230825-0002 https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2022/06/07/5 https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2022-28734 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2090463 • CWE-787: Out-of-bounds Write •
